The independent games media event, taking place on March 9 at the FANJ Hall in Kyoto, Japan, was directed by Q-Games producer James Mielke and featured keynotes by the directors of Tokyo Jungle and Deadly Premonition.
Professor Sakamoto to perform at Bit Summit
Composer and keyboard game arranger Professor Sakamoto will perform at the 1st Annual Bit Summit (Japanese Independent Game Developer & Media Event) in Kyoto on March 9. Companies joining the event include local devs at Q-Games, distributors at Playism and translators from the 8-4 Ltd. localization company.
IGF 2013 announces Excellence in Audio finalists
The Game Developers Conference's Independent Games Festival has announced the 2013 finalists for the Excellence in Audio award category. They are Kentucky Route Zero (Cardboard Computer), Bad Hotel (Lucky Frame), 140 (Jeppe Carlsen), Hotline Miami (Dennaton Games) and PixeljJunk 4am (Q-Games).
Q-Games' Electric Bends release Plastic Fantastic
The Electric Bends, a band composed of game designers at Kyoto-based independent developer Q-Games, have released the album Plastic Fantastic. All nine psychedelic space rock tracks are available to stream in full online, or purchase in your file format of choice, through the group's Bandcamp page.
Sidetracks - Music from Sidescroller on iTunes
UK hip-hop duo High Frequency Bandwidth has released Sidetracks - Music from Sidescroller through iTunes. The album features music from Q-Games' PixelJunk SideScroller for PlayStation Network and shares compositional elements with the scores to the two PixelJunk Shooter titles by the Kyoto game studio.

Alex Paterson and Dom Beken of UK hip-hop duo High Frequency Bandwidth have uploaded a four-minute cross-fade sample previewing the soundtrack album to Q-Games' PixelJunk SideScroller for PlayStation 3. "Sidetracks - Music from Sidescroller," the successor to "HFB Pixel Junked," is due out on June 25.
Q-Games staff members form Electric Bends band
Staff members Dylan Cuthbert, Eddie Lee, Jaymin Kessler, kalin and Paul Leonard of Kyoto-based independent game studio Q-Games have formed the Electric Bends band, and released an album through Bandcamp, titled "real.time." Music by the designers of PixelJunk SideScroller is recorded live in a single take during their lunch break.

Q-Games' PlayStation Move music visualizer and generator has changed its name to PixelJunk 4am. Sound and art director Baiyon describes the name as a late night, early morning atmosphere the design team is attempting to capture.
