Yoko Shimomura scores Final Fantasy XV for PS4

Today at Sony's pre-E3 conference Tetsuya Nomura of Square Enix announced that action RPG Final Fantasy Versus XIII, previously planned for PlayStation 3, has been renamed Final Fantasy XV and will debut on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One consoles. Yoko Shimomura will score both this title and Kingdom Hearts III.

Japanese language news site Game no Hanashi reports Kingdom Hearts HD 1.5 Remix will feature an enhanced music score, involving acoustic instrumentation, overseen by series composer Yoko Shimomura. The PlayStation 3 high definition remastering is scheduled for release on March 14 in Japan.

Publisher X5 Music Group has uploaded their 70-minute album The Greatest Video Game Music 2 in its entirety to YouTube. Performed by the London Philharmonic, the 17-track compilation includes orchestral arrangements of music from Fez, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy VII.

Square Enix has posted the reveal trailer for Kingdom Hearts 1.5 HD Remix, which premiered at the 2012 Tokyo Game Show. The PlayStation 3-exclusive HD remastering includes enhanced ports of PlayStation 2 titles Kingdom Hearts Final Mix and Re:Chain of Memories, featuring music by composer Yoko Shimomura.

Square Enix's official website for the best-of compilation Kingdom Hearts 10th Anniversary Fan Selection Melodies & Memories has undergone renewal. Eleven music samples from early series titles Kingdom Hearts and Chain of Memories, composed by Yoko Shimomura, are currently streaming on the site.

Square Enix has released the soundtrack to Nintendo 3DS action title Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance in Japan. Music samples from each disc of the three-disc album, composed by Yoko Shimomura, Takeharu Ishimoto and Tsuyoshi Sekito, are currently available on the official website.

Square Enix has updated the official webpage for the soundtrack album to Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance for Nintendo 3DS. There are now samples of six tracks from the second disc of the album available to stream online, composed by Yoko Shimomura, Takeharu Ishimoto and Tsuyoshi Sekito.
