Pokémon Ballet set to Kanto Symphony

Ballet choreographer Andrew Plotner has uploaded a half-hour video of his Pokémon Ballet, based on the story and characters of the Nintendo game series. The ballet, performed at the Creighton Lied Arts Center in Omaha, Nebraska, is set to the Kanto Symphony album arranged by Skotein and released through iTunes.

Mystery Gift: an Original Pokémon Tribute

Anamanaguchi Endless Fantasy album crowdfunded

Anamanaguchi's Endless Fantasy album, featuring dance music created using hacked Game Boys and Famicom consoles, has reached its funding goal on Kickstarter. Backer rewards include the chip rock album as a digital download, on compact disc, in a USB drive together with music videos, as well as limited edition vinyl.

Madmilky's Gravitonberry Jam EP by NNNNNNNNNN

Game Boy artist NNNNNNNNNN has made Gravitonberry Jam, the second EP released by Kyoto-based netlabel Madmilky Records, available for free download in mp3 format. "Microvoid," "Les Fleurs du mal," "Gravitonberry fields forever" and "PPPP3P" are also available to stream in full through SoundCloud.

Pico Pico Cafe hosts Rockman Chiptune workshop

Pico Pico Cafe of Kichijouji, Tokyo will host a chiptune sound workshop on May 6, designed to teach Mega Man style Famicom music composition. NSF Music Collective members Hally, Bun and Robokabuto will be presenting in anticipation of their June LCR (Live Communicated Rockman) music event in Shibuya.

All-night chiptune party 1H1D!!! Vol.29 has begun at Cafe la Siesta in Kyoto, Japan, streaming live on Ustream. Chip musicians scheduled to perform at the event include guests KUNIO, 200Gavas and Duran will join crew members DJ Master Kohta, KAZ a.k.a.HIGE, NNNNNNNNNN, Fish Oil and TORIENA.

Danimal Cannon's Cursor Curse score on Bandcamp

Danimal Cannon of the Armcannon game cover band has released the seven-track soundtrack to Cursor Curse, available for download for "name your price" through Bandcamp. Music for the Windows 8 freeware title by Jan de Vries was composed using LSDJ for Game Boy, infused with acoustic drum recordings.

8-Bit Operators cover Kraftwerk, Devo, The Beatles

Jeremy Kolosine of the 8-Bit Operators chip music collective has shared samples from the group's three published cover albums, arranging songs by Kraftwerk, Devo and The Beatles. The forty-minute streaming preview, available through SoundCloud, includes tracks by chiptune artists Glomag, Minusbaby and Psilodump.

Chipocrite's 8-Bit Lebowski: 100% Electronic

Chip musician Chipocrite, a.k.a. Paul Weinstein, has released 8-Bit Lebowski: 100% Electronic, arranged for Game Boy running LSDJ. Coinciding with the 15th anniversary of the Coen Brothers movie, the tribute album contains six licensed cover songs by Bob Dylan, Kenny Rogers, Creedence Clearwater Revival and The Gipsy Kings.

Kyoto-based chiptune netlabel Madmilky Records opens

Kyoto-based Game Boy artists Toriena and NNNNNNNNNN have launched chiptune netlabel Madmilky Records, dedicated to the creation of battery powered dance music. The label's debut release is Over Sleep Insomniac Maiden, composed by Blip Festival Tokyo featured artist Toriena, which includes four free-to-download mp3 files.

Toriena's 2.5D chip performance to stream on Ustream

Kyoto chiptune artist Toriena will play a live Game Boy set today at the Studio 2.5 D venue in Tokyo to mark the opening of Zigg.jp, a girls' DIY culture website. Music performances by the 1H1D!!! party regular and four additional artists will be broadcast live on Ustream, beginning at 7:00 pm JST.

Parallel Processing by Danimal Cannon and Zef

Parallel Processing, a collaborative chip music album by Danimal Cannon of the Armcannon cover band and Rokko Chan chipped tracks arranger Zef, is now available to stream in full through Bandcamp. The liner notes explain that the title refers to the joining of two Game Boy processors and the combined efforts of the composers.
