White Materia a Final Fantasy VII mashup album
Mashup artist DJ Nerd42 of Chrono Tied has posted the White Materia mixtape for free download, combining Final Fantasy VII rap vocals by Random, aka Mega Ran, beats by Lost Perception and sampled sounds by famous artists. The Turks meet Men in Black, and Cid Highwind flies away Lenny Kravitz-style, in this irreverent pastiche.
Marc Papeghin's Final Fantasy french horn medleys
Marc Papeghin has arranged a seventeen-minute Final Fantasy V medley for French horn, collaborating with numerous other musicians through YouTube internet sessions. His latest video follows up on similarly elaborate tributes to composer Nobuo Uematsu's role-playing game themes from Final Fantasy VI, VII and IX.
London Phil's orchestral album on YouTube
Publisher X5 Music Group has uploaded their 70-minute album The Greatest Video Game Music 2 in its entirety to YouTube. Performed by the London Philharmonic, the 17-track compilation includes orchestral arrangements of music from Fez, Super Metroid, Chrono Trigger, Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy VII.
Deeceem chips in 8-bit covers of Final Fantasy VII
Back in September, Square Enix published chiptune arrange album Final Fantasy VII Chips as part of the game frachise's 25th anniversary celebrations. Since then, musician Deeceem of Bielefeld, Germany has taken it upon himself to post his own low-fi fakebit remixes of the score by Nobuo Uematsu, created using FL Studio 9.
Osamuraisan vol.4 offers acoustic RPG selections
Acoustic RPG arrange album Osamuraisan Selection vol.4 Six String Story will debut at hobbyist convention Comic Market 83 next week. The album, which can be sampled on YouTube, inventively plays with the source material by treating Front Mission and Chrono Trigger battle tracks to mellow guitar arrangements.
Ayco covers Final Fantasy VII's Forested Temple
Continuing her series of acoustic Final Fantasy covers, Vancouver-based game composer Eiko Ishiwata of Aycomusic has uploaded an arrangement of Nobuo Uematsu's "Forested Temple" from PlayStation RPG Final Fantasy VII. The music file can be downloaded in mp3 format from the artist's homepage.
Knight of the Round previews Gaia's Bane covers
Final Fantasy-inspired, thrash-based cover band Knight of the Round has uploaded previews from upcoming album Gaia's Bane. The ten-track album, featuring covers of Nobuo Uematsu's music from Final Fantasy VI through IX, is due out next month, digitally through Bandcamp and on CD through the band's website.
The World is Square releases debut album
Massachusetts-based Squaresoft cover band The World is Square has released "No Phoenix Down Can Save You Now." The thirteen-track album, available to stream in full on Bandcamp, contains acoustic arrangements of music from the Final Fantasy series, Chrono Trigger and Chrono Cross.
Final Fantasy VII Chips album announced
Square Enix will be following up chiptune cover album Final Fantasy XI Chips with four additional chip music releases. Final Fantasy VII Chips has been added to the company's e-Store for release on September 19, featuring arrangements of music from the PlayStation RPG by Sexy-Synthesizer and DJ OMKT of SQ Chips.
Final Fantasy VII released for download on PC
Final Fantasy VII, originally released for the Sony PlayStation console, is now available to purchase as a PC digital download through Square Enix's online store. New features include achievements, Windows optimization and, appropriately enough, cloud saves. Music is by series composer Nobuo Uematsu.
Final Fantasy series 25th Anniversary trailers
Square Enix has uploaded 14 trailers to YouTube to commemorate the 25th anniversary of the Final Fantasy role-playing game series. Music for Final Fantasy I-III (Famicom), Final Fantasy IV-VI (Super Famicom) and Final Fantasy VII-IX (Sony PlayStation) is by series composer Nobuo Uematsu.

Hear the Massachusetts acoustic group's arrangements of music from Super Nintendo and Sony PlayStation titles Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross and the Final Fantasy series on Bandcamp.
Acoustic Final Fantasy VII - Cosmo Canyon by Aycomusic
The latest Aycomusic arrangement by Eiko Ishiwata is her first from composer Nobuo Uematsu's score to Final Fantasy VII. The acoustic rendition of "Cosmo Canyon" was recorded using Eastman VL-80 violin, Irish whistle, Yamaha CGBN1 classical guitar and Martin D-15 acoustic guitar.
