Skulls of the Shogun: Bone-A-Fide Edition on Steam
Independent developer 17-BIT has announced award-winning strategy game Skulls of the Shogun will be available for PC through Steam in July as the "Bone-A-Fide Edition." Music is by DJ Makyo and Sam Bird, while game-inspired rapper Mega Ran has recorded a Skulls of the Shogun hip-hop track for the new intro.
Grant Kirkhope scores Disney's Castle of Illusion
Banjo-Kazooie composer Grant Kirkhope is scoring Disney Interactive's high definition remake of Sega Genesis sidescroller Castle of Illusion, starring Mickey Mouse. An E3 trailer has been released this week for the game, currently in development for the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade and PC.
David Wise scores Donkey Kong Country for Wii U
David Wise, co-composer on the original Donkey Kong Country Super Nintendo trilogy, is currently writing music for the Wii U title Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, unveiled this week at E3. The sidescrolling action game, developed by Metroid Prime creator Retro Studios, is due out toward the end of 2013.
Nintendo Direct E3 2013 Edition on Ustream
Nintendo has broadcasti a special edition of their Nintendo Direct program prior to the 2013 E3 Expo in Los Angeles through Ustream. The presentation features footage of Super Mario 3D World, Mario Kart 8, The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker, Super Smash Bros and Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze.
Mega Ran Japan Tour set for June 19 ~ 29
Game-inspired hip-hop artist Mega Ran will be performing live in Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka on June 19 through 29 with DJ DN3. Other participating musicians include Street Fighter IV composer Hideyuki Fukasawa, Ape Escape series composer Soichi Terada (Omodaka) and Streets of Rage 3 composer Motohiro Kawashima.
Stemage's Priority One: Music of TRON listening party
Stemage (Grant Henry) of Metroid Metal is following up his Marble Madness cover album with a tribute to Wendy Carlos' film score from Tron. Priority One: The Music of TRON listening party will happen June 8 on Arecibo Radio, beginning at 5:00 pm Eastern, shortly preceding the release of the album through Bandcamp.
Distant Worlds: The Celebration Blu-ray clips on YouTube
Square Enix will release a Blu-ray on June 26 documenting the Final Fantasy orchestral concert Distant Worlds: The Celebration. Previews of the event's "Final Fantasy I~III medley," "Battle with the Four Fiends" and "Blinded by Light" performances have been uploaded to YouTube.
Tekken Tag Tournament 2 Plus crossfade movie
Tokyo-based record label SweepRecord has announced a two-disc Tekken Tag Tournament 2 soundtrack album release, containing music from the console port of Namco Bandai's fighting game for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. Tournament 2 Plus follows the arcade score and Juno Download remix contest.

Retro/Grade postmortem posted to GDC Vault
Independent developer Matt Gilgenbach gave a presentation at the 2013 Game Developers Conference in San Francisco on the making of Retro/Grade, available through PlayStation Network and Steam. The score for the game, a shooter played backwards to the beat of the music, is by Skyler McGlothlin of the band Nautilis.
Carlo Castellano scores cloning puzzler The Swapper
The Swapper, whose development was supported by the Indie Fund funding source for independent developers, revolves around the player wielding an experimental device that he can use to clone himself and jump between his various doubles. Music for the game, due out May 31, is by Invaders: Corruption composer Carlo Castellano.
Composer Robyn Miller's GDC Myst postmortem
Myst music composer and co-designer Robyn Miller spoke on the creation of the classic game for his 2013 Game Developers Conference postmortem, now available to view on the GDC Vault website. The best-selling PC puzzle game of the 1990s popularized the CD-ROM format and has since been re-released for iOS and 3DS.
Pokémon Ballet set to Kanto Symphony
Ballet choreographer Andrew Plotner has uploaded a half-hour video of his Pokémon Ballet, based on the story and characters of the Nintendo game series. The ballet, performed at the Creighton Lied Arts Center in Omaha, Nebraska, is set to the Kanto Symphony album arranged by Skotein and released through iTunes.
