Ubisoft Montreal is working with Canadian singer-songwriter Coeur de Pirate on the music score to Child of Light, a turn-based role-playing game set in the mythical kingdom of Lemuria. English voice over narrative in verse and rhyme has been paired with Yoshitaka Amano art to combine European and Asian fantasy motifs.

Frog Fractions 2, Tribute Album funded on Kickstarter

Jim Crawford's Frog Fractions 2 edutainment tool for ages 8-12, along with the Tribute Album arranged by Danny Baranowsky, Disasterpeace and Ben Prunty, have been funded through Kickstarter. Pledges for backer rewards, including the original and arranged soundtracks, will be accepted online until Thursday, April 10.

American nerdcore rapper Mega Ran will appear live at Pico Pico Cafe in Kichijoji, Tokyo on March 25 in an encore performance of the Mega Ran Japan Tour. Beginning at 2:00 pm, the show will include acts by Mega Ran, Asu Rock, Motohiro Kawashima, Kunio, Smallest and more. 1000 yen entrance fee includes multiple re-entry.

A debut cassette that is four years in the making, "Hit Play" by chiptune duo The Shortsleeves (Paul "Go Motion" Owens and Jenn "Drum Machine Dating Service" de la Vega) is crowdfunding on Kickstarter. The FAMI-MODE Blu-ray, produced by METEOR, will have its first public screening March 7 at Cafe la Siesta, following the first day of the Bit Summit indie game festival and preceding the Mon Petit Arigato chiptune party. The movie features performances by chip artists Omodaka, Professor Sakamoto and BOKKADENcI.

Hiversaires designer Aliceffekt has composed an original score for Oquonie, an iOS puzzle game developed in collaboration with illustrator Rekka Bellum. Due out next week, the game depicts bizarre characters who speak an obscure language, allowing the player to explore an intertwined megastructure labyrinth.
